Taking Dental Care to the Remote Villages

The ITEC PDS 500 Portable Dental Chair was created to tackle the dilemma of the world's lack of medical and dental care.  Getting into the rugged, hard to reach areas where medical help is scarce, can be tricky with any team.  ITEC sought to eliminate obstacles by creating a robust, fully articulating dental chair with a battery operated hand piece, all in a 15kg package which can be carried as a back pack.

The Dental Chair is made of anodized aluminium tubing and high-tech plastic joints that can support a patient up to 126kg.  The Dental Chair includes:

  • a well balanced 2,000 - 30,000 rpm drill

  • pneumatic foot-operated speed control pedal

  • instrument tray

  • solar panel and zero memory metal hydride battery

  • ability to be used for gynaecological exams, eye surgery & medical exams

  • rain cover backpack

All with the ability to be set up or taken down with in 60 secs

Through Rotary Australia Community Services (RAWCS), Solar Smiles Dental Charity is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission ABN 37 739 341 003
